Day 2 - morning

One prayer request. Zeke stepped on a bee on Thursday and the stinger is still in his foot. I tried getting it out with tweezers, and we have been keeping drawing salve on it, but his foot is quite swollen and he is rather grumpy.

We spent the night at the Walmart in Clearfield, PA and we're back on the road before 8a.  Ken resisted the urge to stop at Grice Gun Shop.  Three miles away, we passed the marker at MM111 - highest elevation on I-80 East of the Mississippi.

Of course, we had to stop at Sheetz to fill our tank and get some caffeine.  One does not pass through western PA without stopping at Sheetz.  Even though it was before 8a, the girls had to have MTOs.

Today will bring many memories of our college days. We will pass by our Alma Mater, then leave the mountains of western PA for the flats of Ohio, then, Lord willing, meet up with a GT (Grove City College Gospel Team) friend and her family outside Chicago for dinner.

Passing by - where it all started more than 20 years ago.  King's Run anyone?

Allegheny River - once we leave PA, we won't see much for mountains until we arrive in British Columbia, so we are enjoying it this morning.  "The mountains are calling, and I must go.", John Muir.

9:38a 7/14/18 Entering Ohio on I-80

Annie and I made travel game folders for the trip.  They have already completed 95% of the one scavenger hunt and are making progress on the license plate game.  Thankfully they can't start "Wildlife of the Canadian Rockies and Alaska" in Ohio. LOL. They also have dot games and battleship game boards to play together when they want.  Last night they watched Looney Tunes for a while.  Eventually we will break out the Lamplighters audio books, Diana Waring, and more.  Our children travel exceptionally well, even when we travel more than 600 miles per day, several days in a row.

It has been a while since our last trip to Cleveland.  Since when is I-80 a toll road in Ohio????  It was a freeway when we made Study Day trips to Cedar Point back in the mid-90s.
