Day 20 - So long, Seward

After a few blissful days at Resurrection Bay South RV park, it is time to start the long trek east.  First, we had to flag down my parents because our battery needed a jump, then came around and helped us out then headed to Costco in Anchorage.  Of course, I managed to injure the top of my foot while helping hitch up.  The friction sway control bar was resting up on the hitch and it fell squarely on top of my foot - ouch!  I had on hiking trek shoes which offered a little protection.  Thankfully, I don't think it is broken.

Then we headed to Exit Glacier, which is part of Kenai Fjords NP.  The two youngest children earned an Exit Glacier patch by completing activities in the Discovery Art Backpack.  We hiked the 2mile Edge of Glacier Trail.  I got a few comments about hiking the rocky path in flip flops, but I was concerned about swelling and heavy boots.  Hiking seemed to help, actually.  The hike was very nice and the glacier view was worth it!

Lunch was sandwiches in the car -- we have lunch meat, etc in the camper for quick meals.  Then we set the GPS for Copper Center, AK where we will go to the Wrangell-St. Elias NP visitor center.  It is the largest NP in the NPS.  We went to the smallest one back in 2016 - Hot Springs NP in Hot Springs, AR.

When planning this trip, I didn't think we would have time to catch the southern part of the state, but it has been fantastic!

Driving the Glenn Hwy A-1 around mile marker 70.

Glacier along Glenn Hwy.

We caught up with my parents around mile 118 of the Glenn Hwy. and had "clean out the fridge" dinner at a huge rest area with an expansive view of the Wrangell mountains and a large plain - it was tremendous.  Then we continued east toward Glennallen to a campground - Tolsona Wilderness.

View from our campsite.

Who are those kids in the creek???  Lol. Those kids are now in the shower -- I told them no wi-fi until they had showered.  Free wi-fi and free showers, water and electric hookups!
